The “Oh So Ethical” Obama Administration – AKA Crony Capitalism

It looks like General Motors will be throwing everything in but the kitchen sink to help fluff its second quarter earnings numbers. Taxpayers continue to help with the cause as President Obama campaigns on the "success" of GM following the manipulated bankruptcy process that cost taxpayers $50 billion and another $45 billion of tax credits gifted to GM to help protect powerful UAW interests. We now learn that government purchases of GM vehicles rose a whopping 79% in June.

Political Woman The Big Little Life of Jeane Kirkpatrick By Peter Collier

This first and only biography of Jeane Kirkpatrick almost wasn’t written. Those interested in understanding US political history over the last 50 years can be grateful that it was. Jeane Kirkpatrick’s evolution from liberal (before the word became a pejorative) Democrat to Reagan Republican is also the story of how the radical left hijacked the Democratic Party, the winning of the Cold War, and an account of a group of individuals whose collective brainpower could move a planet out of orbit.

James Madison and The Making of America by Kevin R. C. Gutzman

James Madison and The Making of America
James Madison and The Making of America is not really a biography. It is exactly what its title suggests, the story of the making of America, or at least its government. Kevin R. C. Gutzman’s book takes the reader on a chronological journey of Madison’s involvement in that process. It mirrors some aspects of Labunski’s James Madison and The Struggle For The Bill of Rights, but is broader in scope and less biographical than that excellent book.

The Politics of Despair and Dependency

There has been a lot of talk about nullification and the next steps after absorbing the content of the Supreme Court's ruling on ObamaCare. Texas Governor Rick Perry has unequivocally announced that Texas isn't in on board. That's good to hear. But what was most interesting about this article was the Democratic response. It provides a perfect example of the mindset of the Left.

“Well, here’s another nice mess you’ve gotten me into!”

In Golden Valley, Minnesota, Obama recently repeated his refrain that, "We are still fighting our way back from the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression." Rapid recovery has been true throughout our history except under the first two terms of Franklin Roosevelt. Roosevelt followed the same policies of bashing business, raising taxes, restricting trade, and trying to goose the economy up pouring borrowed money into the public sector. It didn’t work then and it is not working now.

Executive Order — Assignment of National Security and Emergency Preparedness Communications Functions

Here is yet another executive order. One has to wonder what does this one aim at accomplishing? Executive Order -- Assignment of National Security and Emergency Preparedness Communications Functions | The White House. Sinister? Maybe. Broad-based authority - definitely. But hey, this is the Obama administration, and they would never abuse their authority, would they?
