Hyperbolic Needles

A hyperbolic needle can be defined as an insult laced barb, dripping in hyperbole with the intent to inject maximum opprobrium upon its intended target. Recently, we have witnessed several hyperbolic needles tossed out so freely by the Democrats you’d …

Tell ‘Em Where It Hurts and Then Some

With every expansion of government under the Obama administration, President Obama helps make the case for smaller government. Just in case the NSA didn’t get you too riled up (it’s all in the name of national security – right?), the blob known as Obamacare continues to grow.   Read the rest of this entry »

Baby, You Can Drive My Car (But Not Too Fast)

The Eurocrats are at it again. Not content to enforce laws with, you know, police, the European Union, according to The Telegraph, is now considering a proposal that would fit new cars with cameras that could read road speed limit signs and automatically slow the car down to the posted speed limit. This proposal is apparently designed to reduce the 30,000 people who die each year in auto accidents on European roads. Naturally, this would make make virtually impossible the practice of motorists speeding just up enough to pull over to the next lane so as not to miss that last exit to Stuttgart – and one ends up in Heidelberg, instead.   Read the rest of this entry »

The End of Summer 2013, The Beginning of 2016

The summer of 2013 is winding down, which means only one thing – it’s time to start thinking about the 2016 presidential election. God knows the potential candidates are thinking about it.   Read the rest of this entry »

The Not Such A Value Meal

Recently, some fast food workers in New York and other cities went on strike for a day, calling for an increase in the minimum wage to $15. In some cases, that would nearly double the hourly wages of many of those workers. Of course, we’d be completely shocked to learn that much of this was being supported and underwritten by the delightful folks at S.E.I.U. (Seriously Economically Illiterate and Unaware). As quoted in the New York Times, Mary Kay Henry, the S.E.I.U. president, said, “Our union’s members think that economic inequality is the No. 1 problem our nation needs to solve.”   Read the rest of this entry »

And You Thought the Lions Were Bad!

Detroit owes money to more than 100,000 creditors. For starters, perhaps they should require all creditors move to the city – an instant population boost! Of course, there are more than just financial problems. Reports indicate that 47% of the city’s residents are functionally illiterate – that’s almost the same percentage as the United States Senate.   Read the rest of this entry »

What’s Playing?

Ever since Benghazi and the Obama administration’s “It was the video” explanation, any uprising in the Middle East must be first met with one basic question – what’s playing?   Read the rest of this entry »

Magna Carta: Rules for Kings

The Magna Carta, contrary to what some think, does not translate to “Big U-Haul.” Although, in reality, a big U-Haul is what is needed to transport the Obamacare regulations (seven feet high and counting) around. Like the Constitution, the Magna Carta is also a slim document, but is packed with so much that it guided the framers as they debated and crafted the Constitution some 560 or so years later. We may recall that community organizer extraordinaire, Saul Alinksy, wrote “Rules for Radicals.” Well, think of the Magna Carta as “Rules for Kings.”   Read the rest of this entry »

Washington – As Real As Fake Can Be

Much head scratching occurred when the Nobel committee awarded Barack Obama the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009, just months after becoming president. Many (me included) believed that he had not accomplished anything yet as president and certainly nothing that warranted …
