The Drone Zone – NYTimes.com

The Drone Zone – NYTimes.com.

Some interesting things in this article about the increased use of unmanned drones by various and sundry agencies of the federal government:

“Wait, you guys practice tracking enemies by using civilian cars?” a reporter asked. One Air Force officer responded that this was only a training mission, and then the group was quickly hustled out of the room.

….

It is widely known that the United States has three different drone programs. The first is the publicly acknowledged program run by the Pentagon that has been operating in Iraq and Afghanistan. The other two are classified programs run separately by the C.I.A. and the military’s Joint Special Operations Command, which maintain separate lists of people targeted for killing.

Then there is this story featured on the Drudge Report yesterday:

Spy Drone Buzzes Journalist’s Secluded Home

World Net Daily editor and prominent Obama administration critic Joseph Farah revealed how his secluded property was buzzed by a spy drone – part of what Farah fears is a “war” being waged by the administration against its political adversaries.

If true, it’s getting pretty spooky out there.

Government operated drones loitering and tracking U.S. citizens within our borders. So wrong.
